Taylor Swift Performs for Emmy Voters as 'Eras Tour: The Final Show' Chases Five Nominations

Swift hosted a private Los Angeles gathering for Television Academy voters, playing an intimate set on the Eras Tour piano as the Disney+ concert special campaigns for five Emmy nominations.

Taylor Swift opened a private Los Angeles gathering to Emmy voters this week, campaigning in person for "Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show," the Disney+ concert special that has picked up five Emmy nominations ahead of next month's Creative Arts ceremony.

The event was held Wednesday evening at Ross House in Los Angeles, according to accounts from attendees reported by ClutchPoints and Glamsham. Swift was joined by director Glenn Weiss and sound designer John Ross, both nominated for their work on the special, in a for-your-consideration push aimed squarely at Television Academy members who will decide the winners in early September.

Rather than a traditional screening-and-panel event, the evening centered on Swift herself. She sat at the same piano used on the Eras Tour stage and, according to attendees cited by ClutchPoints, played roughly five songs for the room, including "August," "Cardigan," "All Too Well" and "Champagne Problems," plus a newer track tied to the "Toy Story 5" soundtrack. The intimate, unplugged format was designed to give voters a scaled-down version of the connection fans describe from the arena and stadium shows themselves.

What's nominated

"The Final Show" is up for five Emmy Awards: Outstanding Variety Special (Prerecorded), Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming, Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special, and Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork for a Special. The nominations recognize the behind-the-camera team rather than Swift as a performer, which is consistent with how the Television Academy has historically categorized concert-film submissions.

The special, which Variety reported was set for Disney+, premiered December 12, 2025, capturing the tour's closing performance in Vancouver, British Columbia. That final concert included a full staging of "The Tortured Poets Department" material, which was folded into the setlist only after the album's 2024 release and was never part of the earlier, theatrically released Eras Tour film. Weiss directed "The Final Show," distinct from Sam Wrench, who directed the 2023 concert film that grossed more than $261 million worldwide during its theatrical run.

A campaign built on access

Awards-season events built around live, in-person appearances by nominees are a familiar late-summer ritual before Emmy ballots close, but campaigns fronted personally by an artist as famous as Swift are less common in the variety-special categories, which typically lean on directors, editors and below-the-line crews to make the rounds. Her presence at the Ross House event underscores how competitive the category has become, with music specials from several major touring artists among this cycle's contenders.

Neither Disney nor representatives for Swift have released an official statement characterizing the scope of the FYC campaign beyond the Wednesday event. Emmy voting in the Creative Arts categories, which cover variety, documentary and technical honors, typically concludes in the weeks following such events, with the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony held separately from the primetime telecast.

The variety-special field this cycle is unusually crowded with music-driven entries, a byproduct of several major stadium tours by pop and country acts being turned into streaming specials over the past two awards seasons. Voters in the technical categories — editing, sound and camera direction — are typically industry professionals rather than generalists, which is part of why campaigns in this corner of the Emmys tend to emphasize craft discussion over star power. Swift's decision to appear personally, rather than let Weiss and Ross campaign on the special's behalf alone, is being read within the industry as a sign of how competitive she and Disney consider the field.

For Swift, the nominations mark a return to Emmy contention roughly a decade after her last nod in the category, adding a television-awards subplot to a year that has already included the wind-down of her touring commitments and a heavy publicity push around her most recent studio output. The Eras Tour itself, which ran across five continents before closing in Vancouver, has already produced two separate concert films — the 2023 theatrical release and now "The Final Show" — an unusual degree of multimedia documentation for a single tour cycle. Whether the additional nominations convert into wins will become clear when the Creative Arts Emmys are handed out in the coming weeks.
