The Altamont Lady Longhorns beat San Juan, 49-31 and Whitehorse, 57-30 for first place at Wayne Tournament in the last week of December.

AHS led San Juan 20-8 after one quarter and was up 31-17 at the half. Altamont led 37-23 after three and won by 18 points. AHS hit 21 field goals and tossed in 6 out of 13 free throws. San Juan zipped in 14 field goals and was 3 for 7 at the foul line.

The Longhorns were led by Whitney Fieldsted who tallied 24 points to get past the Broncos. Also scoring for AHS were: Sydnee Justice, 10; Quincee Mathew, 6; Taylor Thompson, 5; Morgan Fieldsted, 4.

Altamont has also defeated Hayden, Colo., 46-44; Rangely, 47-32, 43-37 and Grand, 54-34. AHS lost to South Summit, 49-45 and Meeker. The Lady Longhorns own a 6-2 mark.

Scores by quarters vs. Rangely are: first quarter, Rangely 10, AHS 8; second, RHS 23, AHS, 18; third, RHS 26, AHS 30, RHS 26; fourth,Altamont 47, RHS 32. AHS hit 14 field goals and was 16 for 29 from the foul line.

Whitney Fieldsted scored 27 points and the Longhorns pulled away in the second-half for the win over Rangely, Colorado at the Meeker Tournament. Also scoring for AHS were: Justice, 12; Mathews, Thompson, 4.

In a game played on Dec. 10, Altamont led Rangely after one quarter, 8-6 and had a 23-14 lead at the half. AHS ended up winning by six. Altamont recorded 10 field goals and was 11 for 23 in free throws.

W. Fieldsted produced 23 points as the Longhorns ended the first half on a 15-8 run. Also scoring were: Thompson, 12; Staci Thayne, 3; M. Fieldsted, Mathews, 2; Justice, 1.

Altamont had quarter leads of 11-8, first; 23-21, second; 45-28, third and 54-34, fourth, vs. Grand. AHS hit 18 field goals and zipped in 13 of 19 free throws. W. Fieldsted led her team with 26 points. Also scoring were: Justice, 16; Mathews, 6; Thompson, Harrison, M. Fieldsted, 2.
